John Southworth Prescott (b1939), "The Mill and Terrace Houses", jewellery casket, marquetry inlaid specimen wood with silver and gilt paint, hinged and opening to reveal four yin and yang removable trays above sunken well, inlaid drop down top with 12 miniature drawers, signed 'JS Prescott 2017', length 40cm, depth 32cm & height 41cm.
Born 20th April 1939, John started his working life as a maintenance man at Littlewood's factory, Liverpool, later family joinery business 'J Prescott & Sons', followed by Ormsby Church Supplies. According to family reports he rarely went away and spent the majority of his spare time in the workshop.
