John Southworth Prescott (b1939), "With Out Reason", jewellery cabinet, marquetry inlaid in mixed wood and mother of pearl, brass finial with plastic beads and abalone, single door suspended on brass hinges opening to reveal two asymmetric open drawers and nine further drawers above hidden sunken well, height 70cm, depth 21cm and width 38cm.
Born 20th April 1939, John started his working life as a maintenance man at Littlewood's factory, Liverpool, later family joinery business 'J Prescott & Sons', followed by Ormsby Church Supplies. According to family reports he rarely went away and spent the majority of his spare time in the workshop.
